I know it's a tough topic to discuss, but what do you think?

I think it should be illegal, except for certain cases.

i.e. If a teenager got raped and became pregnant from it, but is nowhere near able to take care of the child and and her (and possibly along with her rents) agree to have it done. If the mother or the child won't be able to survive if the they go through with the birthing. Something along the lines of those, then I think it's okay.

But if it's just because they're not using contraception or any of those kinds of things and it's just negligence on their part, then I don't think it should be allowed.

I don't agree with abortion. And cpowanab7 you have hit on two points that it would possibly be okay for a woman to use abortion as a choice - one being if the pregnancy was to endanger the life of the woman, and two, if it was a teenager who had been raped....

It would be traumatic for anyone who had been raped to end up pregnant. I would hate to have to make that type of decision. I would hope that if they weren't able to care for that child that instead of abortion that they would consider other options out there, like adoption. But again, I can't imagine being a woman who was raped who had to carry the attacks child, so I would never pass any kind of judgement there.

Now, any woman who choses abortion as a form of birth control is wrong. I don't agree with that at all and I never will. In today's society there are so many ways to avoid getting pregnant. And if a woman does get pregnant and is not financially or emotionally ready to be parent, then there are other alternatives out there.

I would rather see someone give a child up for adoption then to terminate the pregnancy. There are many loving families out there that would open up their hearts to a child. Adoption helps may families have the children and families they want when they are unable to have children of their own.

Babies are a gift that God gives us. We don't have the right to take that gift away.

Blessed be,

Lisa

I think abortion is wrong in every case, even in the 2 cases you mentioned.

PostSubject: Re: Abortion: right or wrong?   Mon Dec 17, 2007 6:28 pm

Wow, now this is a topic....and it has been something i've been trying to wrap my head around for years. Let me start off by giving you's a little description about where and how i got my understanding of abortion in the first place.

Well i went to a christian highschool, and my christian ed teacher actually worked at a Life center, dealing with teenagers, women, abused women, etc. and abortion was something she came across many times.

Abortion....well as you all know...its something that can be looked at from so many aspects and views. My opinion....it is WRONG no matter what. There are no exceptions. I am not going to go into the bible and just pull out scripture to back up my opinion because i know most of you all here know Gods word enough to know that killing...is wrong and a sin.

Before i go further, lets define Life:
There are really two simple definitions, which also define WHEN life is actually life. You must ask yourself this question,
Is life the moment the sperm meets the egg?
or
Is life once the baby has been removed from the mothers womb?

This is where the whole arguments start about the issue with Abortion. Many, believe that Life isn’t officially Life until the baby has been born. That is when they think its ok to abort before the baby comes out.
The argument is, its not life because we can’t see him or her. But hang on, that’s not true, mothers can go in for tests that take pictures of babies while their in the womb, right? Everyone is excited to see the baby’s heart, small hands…etc…so isn’t that life? So by you tearing out the body in abortion, is that murder.
As a Christian, a life is from the moment of conception…as soon as that egg is fertilized…that is officially Gods Special creation. Abortion is murder…and extremely horrific at that. I don’t know if any of you’s actually know how abortion happens…but just to give you’s a little description, to hopefully help you’s understand, abortion is simply ripping out the body, out of the mothers womb. Tools are used that grab the head of the baby, and slowely it is tugged on and squashed so it can be safely removed from the mothers womb. Abortion is such a cruel process….and its soo horrific. It is clearly murder, and it should NEVER have been allowed. Not only do you destroy Gods creation, you injure the mother as well, from diseases..or simply accidents that happen during the surgery.
So, now my opinion on this matter…as some of you must already know…Abortion, in my eyes…is a cruel way of murdering something God created, just because it doesn’t fit in your life. I don’t think it is ok in any circumstances. If you got raped, or if you were sleeping around….well you know what, its not by chance that God left you with this baby. Now some of you are going to say…well then why must a mother keep a child if it was a mistake…because of rape or simply sleeping around. Well let me answer this for you…very clearly…and hopefully this lights a bulb in your mind.
I am adopted, I do not know the reasons for my parents leaving me…and I really don’t care at this point, I have a great loving family and I would like to thank God for handing me over to my parents. Now, when I hear about women aborting children, I think to myself…you know what…that could have been me. Perhaps my mother was raped….perhaps she was sleeping around and I simply entered her life when she wasn’t ready….well obviously she had the choice to abort me….or give me a chance. So if I was given a chance…then why isn’t every other baby out there given the same chances? I am very lucky to be here with my loving family…cause who knows, I could possibly not be here talking with any of you right now.
So I ask you again…do you think abortion is ok? Even if a mother was raped, or sleeping around? I hope you will answer No to both questions. If you are not ready, then you are more the welcome to hand over a baby to an orphanage or some type of organization that is willing to take care of children and find them new families.
Well that’s my story, personal but yet very understanding…abortion is wrong and wrong….and there are no exceptions. God created each and every one of us for a purpose….and YOU do not have the right to take that away from Gods children.
Hope this sheds some light on some of you,
If you have any questions you'd like to ask me, or discuss further, please just ask...don't feel afriad or shy to ask Smile

GodBless, Vash

Sorry if its abit complicated to understand, i tried to write this exactly how i was thinking it Razz

I had no idea just how awful the abortion process is. I did not realize just how invasive and cruel it is.

I agree that there are other options out there, adoption is a huge one. Pregnant teens who give birth to a baby that they have kept hidden, can drop the baby off at a hospital, fire station, police station with no questions asked.

A life is a blessing, a baby is a blessing. As someone who has been dealing with infertility for almost 7 years now I hate hearing how anyone can terminate a pregnancy.

Once the egg is fertlized, it is no longer just an egg or just part of the woman. It is a life made up by two people. It is officially it's own person. It is a life. One that should be blessed. It is a gift given by God so who gives us the right to take that gift away.

Good post Vash.

Blessed be, Lisa

Vash and Ladyfire, I like the way you guys think Smile

I believe even in rape cases that abortion is wrong. Why punish and kill a child for the sins of another?

I have a question that no one seems to mention in these types of things, and that is contraceptives. Many people, yes even married ones, try to keep from having children for so long because they don't feel like they are ready, when do contraceptives hit that line. I mean for example. Many people agree that life begins at conception, I myself agree, why then aren't people against the birth pill which gets rid of an already conceived embryo by flushing it out of the woman's system? any thoughts?
